Music Magazines Research


The other main Music Magazines that are published and Popular at the moment are:

Q Magazine -                       
Q magazine claims to be set above all other music magazines due to it’s monthly publications, high quality imagery and printing.
They say that they are targeting a generation of older music buyers – those who were still buying CDs as opposed to the new technologies.
They were originally called Cue magazines – as in cueing a record…
Their total circulation is 80,418. Published by Bauer Media Group.


Kerrang! -
Kerrang! Magazine is a magazine that has been themed and devoted to Rock and sometimes Heavy Metal music; which means that kerrang! has a very niche market of readers – (only fans of rock/metal music).
It was first published as a supplement and was so popular that they formed it into a weekly publication.

Published by Bauer Media Group and their total circulation is 43,033.


Top of the Pops -
Top of the Pops is a monthly publication produced by the BBC as a supplement to the ever popular (now finished) music show Top of the Pops.
Top of the Pops was released in February 1995, and became the most famous for giving The Spice Girls their nicknames. Top of the Pops is obviously a young girls magazine.






Mojo –
Mojo magazine is a British music magazine published initially by EMAP and has now been bought out by Bauer (in 2008).
Mojo is a monthly publication with a circulation of 94,617.




Clash-
Clash magazine is an English publication that publishes 12 copies a year (montly) and has a circulation of 40,000.
Clash is edited by Simon Harper and is a publication that specialises in modern/alternative music genres.

Clash.com is a very popular online destination for music fans – set up in 2008 using a grant from the Scottish Government.
